The two portraits, a male and a female, form the focus of this sampler. Framed by a floral border, the two look noble and dignified. This is how people liked to portray themselves in the Middle Ages. We know similar depictions from medallions or in painting. The rest of the sampler consists of lush borders and ornaments that merge into one another. I stitched the pattern on 14-thread honey-colored linen from Zweigart with cream-colored silk. The silk gives the sampler a natural, elegant shine and harmonizes wonderfully with the linen color.
